Belknapchiton taiwanensis [Belknapchiton taiwanensis]
Description
This chiton is a subtle grazer found on rocky coastal habitats, where it uses its strong foot to hold tight against currents. Underwater, it can look like a compact, segmented “armor” plate against the rock, sometimes with mottled coloration that helps it disappear from view. Divers may see it during slow swims over reef edges or tide pools.
