Eteone [Eteone]

Description
Eteone is a genus comprising slender, often long and thread-like marine polychaetes. They are recognized by their relatively simple body plan with few setae (bristles) per segment and a well-developed prostomium (head region) without appendages. Eteone species are primarily found on or near the seabed across various marine environments, where they are active crawlers, feeding on detritus and small invertebrates. Their presence indicates a healthy benthic environment, as they contribute to nutrient recycling and serve as a food source for higher trophic levels.
