Crust Coral [Leptastrea]
Description
Leptastrea crust corals spread as low, encrusting sheets that cling tightly to rock and reef surfaces. Divers often spot them as patchy, textured “coatings,” and they can be surrounded by small algae and invertebrates that take advantage of the coral’s rough, uneven surface.
