Description

Valvatida sea stars are frequently recognizable by their broad, often patterned arms and relatively thick, sturdy forms. Underwater, divers may see them clinging to rocks, living among seagrass, or resting on the seafloor between bouts of movement. Their colors and textures can be highly variable, making them popular photo subjects.
