Forcipulatid sea stars (forcipulate sea stars) [Forcipulatida]
Description
Forcipulatida includes many common predatory sea stars that divers may spot on rocky bottoms or around reefs. They often have sturdy bodies and strong tube feet, and some species can be seen moving steadily across the substrate. Divers may also notice them near prey-rich areas, where they patrol crevices and algae-covered rocks.
