Cardinalfish [Apogoniformes]
Description
Cardinalfish are common in reef crevices, where they hover or perch in small groups and dart out when something passes. Divers frequently notice their large, alert eyes and subtle, camouflaged bodies tucked into shadows. At night, they can become much more active, making them easier to spot during dives.
