Windowpane Shell [Placuna ephippium]
Description
The Windowpane Shell, also known as the Saddle Oyster, has a thin, transparent, almost circular shell reaching sizes of up to 15 cm in diameter. This species is found primarily in the shallow waters of the Indo-Pacific region, attaching itself to hard substrates in these environments. The Windowpane Shell is often harvested for its decorative shell and the shell's mother-of-pearl interior.
