Tree Coral [Dendrophyllia californica]
Description
Tree Coral forms branching, tree-like clumps that can look like miniature underwater forests. Divers often spot it in rocky or reefy areas where its sturdy branches create small hiding spots for tiny fish and invertebrates. At close range, the coral’s surface texture and clustered polyps make it especially interesting to observe.
