Top Shell [Trochus maculatus]
Description
Trochus maculatus, commonly known as the Top Shell, is a species of sea snail. It is found in the Indo-Pacific region including Madagascar and the Mascarene Basin. This species lives in the subtidal and intertidal zones on hard substrates, primarily on coral reefs. It has a conical shell up to 3 cm in length, characterized by its base color of white with brown or black spots.
