Threadfin shad [Dorosoma petenense]
Description
Threadfin shad is a small pelagic planktivore that generally inhabits the water column just below the surface. It is native to the fresh and brackish waters of eastern North America. This species has a distinct, long filament that extends from the dorsal fin.
