Starflower Coral [Astreopora macrostoma]
Description
Astreopora macrostoma is often recognized by the more noticeable openings on its coral surface, which can make the colony look boldly “starred” or patterned. Divers may find it in reef areas where it’s partially shaded, letting its pale, textured growth stand out. Look closely and you’ll see how the surface architecture creates a striking mosaic effect in the water.
