Star-eyed Parrotfish [Calotomus carolinus]
Description
The Star-eyed Parrotfish is a species of parrotfish. It is a marine, tropical fish which is known from the Indo-Pacific, including East Africa, Hawaii, the Line Islands, and the Ducie Islands. It inhabits coral reefs and lagoons, and can be found at depths between 1 and 30 metres. The Star-eyed Parrotfish is a diurnal herbivore, and its diet mainly consists of algae. This species is distinguished by its robust body, its beak-like jaws, and its pattern of star-like spots around the eyes.
