Southern Mudflat Periwinkle [Austrolittorina antipodum]
Description
The Southern Mudflat Periwinkle is a smaller species that primarily inhabits the lower tidal and upper subtidal areas of the rocky shorelines of New Zealand. It has a brown to black shell and often forms dense aggregations. Like other species in this genus, it feeds on algae.
