Southern Chiton [Leptochiton rugatus]
Description
A species native to the southern hemisphere, found mainly around New Zealand and Australia. It is a small chiton, with a shell length of 10-20mm. It lives in intertidal and subtidal zones, often hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed on algae and detritus.
