Serpent Coral [Pachyseris foliosa]

Serpent Coral
Description

Serpent Coral forms broad, plate-like colonies with a maze of ridges that can look subtly “serpentine” in shape. Divers often spot it in reef crevices or on sloping bottoms, where its textured surface catches light and creates a living, sculpted backdrop. At night or in low light, its polyps may extend slightly, adding a delicate, shimmering detail to the reef.
