Saffron Cod [Eleginus gracilis]
Description
The Saffron Cod, or Eleginus gracilis, is a species of cod found in the northern Pacific Ocean, Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea. It has a yellowish-brown body with a white belly, and can reach up to 60cm in length. This species prefers cold, shallow waters and sandy or muddy seabeds. It is an omnivorous bottom feeder, feeding on a variety of marine animals and plants.
