Ruddy Turnstone [Arenaria interpres]
Description
The Ruddy Turnstone is a small, stocky wading bird. It is highly migratory and breeds in Northern parts of Eurasia and North America, wintering in coastal areas across the world. Its distinctive, calico-patterned plumage and unique 'turning' behavior, where it flips over stones and seaweed to find hidden invertebrates, make it easily recognizable.
