Description
Rhopilema esculentum, also known as the Purple Jellyfish or the Edible Jellyfish, is a species of jellyfish from the family Rhizostomatidae. It is native to the coasts of China, Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. This species is often harvested for food and is a major component in some Asian cuisines. It is characterized by its purple color and its relatively short, thick oral arms. The Purple Jellyfish has a mild sting that is harmless to humans.
