Porites latistellata [Porites latistellata]
Description
This coral typically grows as thick, rounded colonies with a dense, fine-grained surface that can resemble a star-speckled pattern up close. Divers are likely to notice how it forms sturdy reef “blocks” that help shape the habitat around it. In good visibility, the colony’s texture and color can be striking, especially when light filters across the reef and highlights its surface details.
