Pore Coral [Montipora australiensis]
Description
This species is commonly encountered on Indo-Pacific reefs, forming plate-like or encrusting growths with a distinctive porous surface. Divers will often see it as a textured “grid” of tiny openings, with colors that can shift from light browns to greenish tones under different lighting. It’s a great indicator of healthy reef complexity, providing shelter and microhabitats for small reef organisms.
