Description
The Pillow Sponge is a large, robust sponge species that prefers sandy or muddy substrates in deeper waters. It is typically light brown to beige in color and has a pillowy, cushion-like shape with numerous small pores across its surface. Like other sponges, it feeds by filtering microscopic particles from the water and reproduces both sexually and asexually.
