Pectinia maxima [Pectinia maxima]
Description
As the name suggests, this species can grow quite large, forming prominent coral structures that become landmarks on the reef. Divers often see broad, meaty-looking lobes or fans with a textured surface that reflects light in interesting ways. When polyps extend, the coral can look more vibrant and “alive,” rewarding careful observation.
