Palythoa fuliginosa [Palythoa fuliginosa]

Description

Palythoa fuliginosa typically grows as a dark, encrusting colony that can blend into shaded reef areas. Divers may spot it as a velvety or gritty-looking patch with many small mouths across the surface. In moving water, the polyps may extend slightly, making the colony look more alive and textured.
