Palythoa canariensis [Palythoa canariensis]
Description
On temperate rocky coasts and reefs, Palythoa canariensis may appear as a spreading mat of polyps that colonizes hard substrates. Divers can notice a dense, pebbly surface with small openings where the polyps extend. It’s often found in areas with steady water flow, where it can efficiently capture food particles.
