Palythoa aggregata [Palythoa aggregata]
Description
Palythoa aggregata is commonly seen as a colony of many small, closely packed polyps that can form mats or patches on rocks. From a distance it may look like a dark, textured film, but up close divers can spot the tiny openings and subtle movement as the polyps extend. It’s a fascinating “micro-reef” organism that adds life and character to crevices and sheltered surfaces.
