Pacific Saddle Oyster [Anomia peruviana]
Description
This species is native to the Pacific coast of South America, specifically Peru. Similar to other saddle oysters, it has a thin, round shell, but is smaller in size with a maximum diameter of about 5 cm. The exterior of the shell has a white to light brown color. It adheres to hard substrates using byssal threads. Feeds on plankton by filtration.
