Opisthoteuthis grimaldii [Opisthoteuthis grimaldii]
Description
This deep-sea squid is the kind of animal that feels more like a ghost than a typical “reef” creature. In suitable conditions, divers may see it drifting calmly at depth, using its fins and tentacles to maintain a steady position. Because it lives far from most shallow dive sites, sightings are uncommon and usually brief.
