Description
This octopus is commonly associated with temperate reef and rocky habitats, where it uses den sites to ambush prey. Divers may see it perched at the entrance of a burrow, scanning the area with alert eyes. If you hover quietly, you might witness slow, deliberate hunting behavior followed by a sudden retreat into its shelter.
