Octopus balboai [Octopus balboai]
Description
This species is a den-dweller, so divers are most likely to see it peeking from holes, cracks, or sheltered overhangs. Its arms may extend outward like feelers, probing the environment with a slow, purposeful curiosity. If approached too closely, it can retreat quickly and use color and texture changes to disappear into the background.
