Mexican Four-eyed Octopus [Octopus maya]
Description
Divers may spot this small, cryptic octopus tucked into crevices, rubble, or rocky overhangs where it blends in with the seafloor. With its distinctive eye pattern and quick, curious movements, it often appears to “watch” you before it slips away or changes color and texture to match the surroundings.
