Long Tube Worm [Hyalinoecia longibranchiata]

The Long Tube Worm, or Hyalinoecia longibranchiata, is a marine worm that lives in long, cylindrical tubes on the seafloor. The worm’s body is elongated and soft, often a reddish-brown colour, and can measure up to 15cm in length. The tubes it constructs are made from sand and shell fragments, providing protection from predators. This species is commonly found in the North Pacific Ocean, in deep-sea environments.
