Long-snouted lancetfish [Alepisaurus brevirostris]
Description
The Long-snouted lancetfish, or Alepisaurus brevirostris, is a species of lancetfish found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. Like its relative, the Humpback smooth-head, this species is also pelagic and can be found at depths ranging from the surface to 1,850 meters. The Long-snouted lancetfish is distinguished by its long, slender body, a short snout, and large eyes. Despite its fearsome appearance, this species is not considered a threat to humans.
