Lesser Star Coral [Goniastrea minuta]

Lesser Star Coral
Description

This species typically grows as compact clusters with fine, starry-looking corallites that give the reef a delicate, lace-like texture. Divers may spot it tucked into reef crevices or along sheltered slopes where it can form dense patches. Because it’s relatively small and intricate, it rewards slow, close inspection and careful buoyancy.
