Lesser Knob Coral [Cyphastrea magna]
Description
As the name suggests, this species tends to form larger, more substantial mounds than some of its close relatives. Divers can often recognize it by the bold, knobby architecture and the way the colony’s surface catches light. In the right conditions, the polyps give the colony a slightly “alive” sparkle against the reef backdrop.
