Lesser Knob Coral [Cyphastrea agassizi]

Lesser Knob Coral
Description

This small, knobby coral forms rounded mounds or scattered bumps that can look like miniature domes on the reef. Divers may spot its tiny, closely packed polyps, which can give the surface a slightly speckled or velvety appearance. It’s a great species to slow down for—up close, the texture is far more interesting than it looks from a distance.
