Lesser Heart Cockle [Corculum parvum]
Description
Corculum parvum, or the Lesser Heart Cockle, is a small marine bivalve species in the Cardiidae family. As its name suggests, it is smaller than the Heart Cockle and False Heart Cockle, typically reaching only a few centimeters in size. Its shell is also heart-shaped, but more elongated and less convex. It inhabits the western Pacific Ocean, particularly in the waters around Australia and New Zealand. It is a filter feeder, living buried in soft substrates.
