Larger Star Coral [Favites flexuosa]

Larger Star Coral
Description

Favites flexuosa typically grows in large, lumpy star-shaped mounds with gently branching lobes that can look sculpted by the flow. Divers may see small fish and invertebrates using the coral’s crevices for shelter, adding life to the reef structure. Its thick, robust form makes it a common “reef builder” that’s easy to recognize once you’ve seen one colony.
