Jenyns' sole [Catathyridium jenynsii]
Description
Jenyns' sole, scientifically known as Catathyridium jenynsii, is a species of flatfish in the family Achiridae. It is a demersal, marine species that inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms at depths of 1 to 60 meters. It is native to the southwestern Atlantic waters, ranging from Argentina to Brazil. This species can reach a length of 30 centimeters. It is characterized by a left-side coloration of pale grey to brown with numerous dark blotches, and a right-side coloration of white.
