Hypselodoris variobranchia [Hypselodoris variobranchia]
Description
This species is known for its eye-catching gill area, which can look especially vivid when the animal is at rest or partially extended. Divers may spot it on reef slopes and rocky bottoms where sponges provide both food and shelter. Because it’s often small and moves slowly, it’s best found by scanning sponge patches and watching the substrate closely.
