Hump Coral [Porites lichen]
Description
Porites lichen forms lumpy, mound-like colonies that can look almost “lichen-like” in texture from a distance. Divers often see it as a textured reef feature with small, closely packed growth patterns that catch the light. Because it’s relatively sturdy and widespread in some areas, it can be part of the reef’s everyday scenery—especially around sheltered slopes.
