Hump Coral [Porites echinulata]
Description
This species is recognizable to divers by its hummock-like colonies and the way the coral’s surface can look slightly spiky or bristly up close. In many reef settings, it forms rounded mounds that catch light and create a distinct silhouette against sand or rock. Divers often enjoy lingering near it to spot small reef creatures tucked around the coral’s textured surface.
