Description
The Hawaiian Round Herring, or 'Iao, is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Etrumeus. It is endemic to the central Pacific Ocean, particularly around the Hawaiian Islands. It is a plankton feeder, often found in schools near the surface. It is characterized by its small size, slender, round body, and the distinctive blue-green color on its back fading to silver on the belly.
