Gulf Hagfish [Eptatretus springeri]
Description
The Gulf Hagfish is a species that inhabits the Gulf of Mexico. It is known to live at depths of 400 to 600 meters. It has a long eel-like body and is dark in color. It feeds on dead and dying fish, and can tie itself into a knot to gain purchase when tearing food.
