Grimpoteuthis discoveryi [Grimpoteuthis discoveryi]
Description
Divers may recognize this species by its distinctive “dumbo” fin shape and the way it appears to glide rather than actively swim. In the dim light of deeper dives, it can look like a soft, drifting blob with trailing arms, occasionally pausing as it investigates the surrounding habitat.
