Foresti Caryophyllia [Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) foresti]

Foresti Caryophyllia
Description

Foresti Caryophyllia is often encountered as a compact colony with a textured surface made up of many small polyps. Depending on lighting and water conditions, the colony can appear light-colored and slightly mottled, blending naturally with the seafloor while still revealing its coral structure up close. Divers who slow down and scan rocky bottoms may spot it as a quiet, intricate “micro-habitat” on the reef.
