Flabellum (Flabellum) ongulense [Flabellum (Flabellum) ongulense]
Description
You’ll usually find this flabellum as a graceful, upright fan that can resemble a small “leaf” of coral rising from the bottom. Divers watching from a slight angle often get the best view of its layered structure and how it holds position in moving water. Its polyps help it capture plankton, so the coral can appear more animated when currents bring food.
