Fissurella nigra [Fissurella nigra]
Description
The Fissurella nigra, or Black Keyhole Limpet, is found in the western Atlantic Ocean, from North Carolina to Brazil. It has a black shell with a central 'keyhole' or slit, and its size can reach up to 50mm. This species inhabits rocky substrates in shallow waters and consumes algae and detritus.
