Favites monticularis [Favites monticularis]
Description
Favites monticularis often grows as rounded, knobby mounds that stand out from flatter reef areas. Under good light, the colony’s surface can show a distinct, repeating pattern of corallites, and divers frequently find it surrounded by grazing fish and small invertebrates that take advantage of the sheltered spaces.
