Fangtooth seadevil [Bathyaploactis scorpii]
Description
Bathyaploactis scorpii, commonly known as the fangtooth seadevil, is a deep-sea anglerfish species in the family Oneirodidae. This species is found in the Atlantic Ocean. The fangtooth seadevil is recognized by its large, fang-like teeth and its bioluminescent lure used for hunting. It has a dark, almost black coloration, which aids in camouflaging itself in its deep-sea habitat. Like other anglerfish, the males are much smaller than the females and become parasitic mates.
