East Pacific Red Octopus [Octopus rubescens]
Description
Divers often spot this octopus as a reddish, mottled animal that can blend into rocky crevices and kelp edges. When it feels threatened, it may flare its skin pattern and jet away, but it’s also known for curious, slow movements as it patrols its den.
